Board, Staff and Committee Members shared some historically wonderful information on our beloved Lakewood last night. If you were unable to make it, here is a quick recap:

1. President Treu shared that the overall health of LPOA and Lakewood Oaks Country Club are the strongest it’s been in years. Let’s start off with the big one…… LPOA and Lakewood Oaks CC (LHC) paid off all external debt! This will have positive effects on operations and future community projects for future years, a truly monumental accomplishment! We completed a Strategic Vision Plan which was 18 months in the making, including surveys and data driven direction from our homeowners and golf course members. This will guide the board and staff into the future and your voices are being heard loud and clear. We engaged and secured a professional lake management company to ensure our lake is cared for and maintained for the years to come. Food & Beverage operations, including the Argyle, had a tremendous year and saw net costs at an all time low (about $150K better than the previous year or said another way, only $1.56 cost per month of your dues). We saw the construction and opening of our magnificent clubhouse deck which is being named the Oaks Terrace. We are laying the groundwork for a new play park on Fairway Homes Drive to hopefully be completed in 2025 and given the designs we’ve seen, we think it’s going to be another wonderful amenity in the neighborhood. All pleasure dock repairs/replacement are now DONE as of this morning, April 18, 2025. Lastly, but probably most importantly, we hired a search firm to find our new GM to replace Mark Reid after 14+ years of dedicated and excellent service to our community. That process is ongoing but moving fast.

2. Treasurer Jonathan Buschmann shared numbers from our 2024 year end reports. Across the board, Lakewood is in excellent financial health; our reserves numbers are in line with where they need to be. He also broke down how our dues are spent within our community. The Annual Report will be posted soon, so keep an eye on official LPOA communications to see this.

3. Secretary Kim Curran shared that Piers Denney will be a new board member this year representing West Lake. Jonathan Buschmann will continue on the board representing East Lake. Finally, Steve Arbo will join the board representing Multi-Family.

4. Committee Chairs gave updates from their respective committees. Highlights include that St. Andrew’s Pub has gotten a recent facelift! New paint, furniture and handmade custom tables are either here or arriving soon. Folks who aren’t golf members are starting to stop in for breakfast or coffee/snacks after their morning walks, and we encourage those who haven’t tried anything from the St. Andrew’s menu to stop by! Food & Beverage are also developing a menu specifically for the new deck (now named the Oaks Terrace). The golf course is getting an upgrade right now to their driving range, enhancing the member experience for many years to come. The Activities Committee shared all of the wonderful events they put on throughout the year and how they are enhancing and tweaking certain events, specifically the Christmas Float Parade. Our newly formed Security Committee informed us they are recommending new “No Trespassing” signage and also shared that we are the SAFEST lake community in the area according to data. Most incidents are “crimes of opportunity,” so please remember to lock your cars and keep your garage doors down at night.

Overall, its incredible to see all the people who donate their time and resources to make Lakewood a truly special place to live. Its a great time to be here. See you next year at the 2026 Annual Meeting!
