Lakewood Security Committee April 2026 Memo | Metro Security
The LPOA Board and Lakewood Security Committee are pleased to announce the association has contracted with Metro Public Safety to provide security services for the Lakewood community during the summer months. Metro will provide coverage for one shift a day, during times of our highest volume. We know Lakewood is an overall safe community, however, we still have bad things happen in the neighborhood. In reviewing crime statistics and incident reports for Lakewood and nearby communities, the Security Committee found Lakewood was one of the safest neighborhoods in the area, but still regularly had crimes occur in the community, and occasionally potentially dangerous situations. The two most frequent violations in Lakewood are car break ins and trespassing on Lakewood amenities by individuals that are not Lakewood residents or guests. However, the Lakewood community has also experienced home burglaries and car thefts, as well as threats to our Community Service employees.
As recent surveys have shown, neighborhood safety and security is a priority for most Lakewood residents. Metro Public Safety will bring additional security to the community with a uniformed, armed security officer in a marked vehicle who will respond suspicious situations, check for Lakewood IDs, and generally assist where needed during the most active months for the community.
PLEASE NOTE:
Lakewood Community Services are not going anywhere! Metro Public Safety will just be an additional measure we take to keep residents and staff safe in ways that our Community Services Staff aren’t within parameters to do—so things like house watch forms, storage lot or marina openings, etc. will still go through Community Services, who you can reach by calling (816)-373-1500, or the Community Services Reception at (816)-373-4343.
